We can enjoy the new version of AmiCygnix by Edgar Schwan. It is a Unix environment for AmigaOS 4. All programs are compiled natively for AmigaOS 4 and AmiCygnix provides directories and a data structure similar to a Unix installation. Version 1.7 adds improvements when launching external programs and allows access to the Unix console in the Workbench window (in the picture below).
Update of the SSL/TLS standard is important in this version. This may resolve some certificate issues in applications such as: NetSurf, Claws-Mail, Pidgin, uGet, Audacious (scrobbler plugin), Gimp (file-uri plugin) u UFRaw (FITS Saver).
AmiCygnix consists of two parts: base and tools. Both have been updated to version 1.7.
